The implementation is deliberately simple. It uses an estimated USDA zone and a small set of hand-maintained planting rules. There is no AI call and no live weather API.
That keeps the output consistent, but it also creates clear limits. A growing zone is not an exact frost date. A ZIP code cannot tell you about shade, soil, elevation, or a backyard's microclimate. When a location is not in the starter index, the result can be broad. The site tells users to check their local forecast and Extension guidance before planting tender crops.
